Devotion

This devotion is dedicated to the Armstrong- Kennedy Corps of Cadets Instructors.

LTC Lee Vessels, the founding commandant of the John F. Kennedy High School corps of cadets.

In 1979, Armstrong High School and John F. Kennedy High School were combined to form the Armstrong-Kennedy High School complex. After the 1985 – 86 school year, the high school complexes were eliminated. Due to decreased enrollment at both Armstrong and Kennedy High Schools and the escalating cost in operating both buildings, in 2004 Armstrong High School and John F. Kennedy High Schools merged. The corps of cadets drill team had two distinguished names: The Black Berets and The Diamond Nets, winning the State of Virginia JROTC championship 7 years in a row from 1979 – 1986 at Hampton Institute / University.  The merged school, now located at 2300 Cool Lane retained the name Armstrong along with all its achievements, championships, and heritage.
